Abstract
 | A survey commissioned by MAFF of coastal defences that protect against erosion and encroachment by the sea. The first survey in 1993/94 gathered data on the location, extent, type, adequacy and state of repair of coastal defences. Three updates of the survey were subsequently conducted before it was discontinued. The survey was used by MAFF to set priorities for future expenditure on coast protection and to assess applications for grants for coast protection schemes. |
