Series details: CRDA/13

An annual survey of schools conducted by the former Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) and its predecessors which gathered information about school size, types of classes, numbers and types of staff, numbers of students etc. The datasets currently available via NDAD comprise data gathered in the Censuses conducted in 1975-2001. For the years 1975-1994, there are separate sub-series for local authority maintained primary, middle and secondary schools, special schools, nursery schools and independent schools. For the period 1995-2001, all schools are included in a single sub-series. The datasets mainly cover schools in England only. However, schools in England and Wales are included down to 1977, after which Welsh schools are only found in the independent school datasets up until 1985.
