Scope and content

Acts as a lookup table for the COUNTY_CODE field in the BATDATA table.

The COUNTIES table includes the field BRC_CODE, the Biological Records Centre code for the county. The Biological Records Centre is part of the NERC (Natural Environment Research Council) Institute of Terrestrial Ecology. English Nature have explained that the BRC code was included in the database so that the code could be included when listings of the data were provided to ITE.
