Abstract
 |
The data in this survey was collected for a study requested by a Parliamentary Committee established to assess the effectiveness of the 1967 Abortion Act. The survey collected data from a random sample of women living in England, Scotland and Wales, who had abortions in the Spring of 1972. The data concentrated on the experiences of these women in the process of abortion, including consultations, delays, and quality of hospital treatment. Wider-ranging issues included attitudes of relatives and friends, use of contraception, costs, employment status, and background variables (such as education, household composition, country of residence).
