Scope and content

This table shows the weights of aggregated prices for different categories of goods and services so that each takes the appropriate share within household budgets for the period 1987 to 2004. At the beginning of each year the weights used to compile both the CPI and RPI are updated using the latest available information on spending patterns. See section 4.1 Scope and content of the Dataset Catalogue for details in post 2003 data.
