News from NDAD

Six new datasets are now available from the Schools' Census (Form 7) series (CRDA/13) (References: CRDA/13/DS/5/1996 All schools 1996 to CRDA/13/DS/5/2001 All schools 2001).

NB: After 1996, new legislation began to affect the range and type of questions in the Schools' Census. The two main changes of note are that the ethnicity of pupils began to be recorded from 1996, and permanent exclusions became a feature of the census. Also of interest (from 1996 onwards): the data for all school types began to be arranged within a single dataset. NDAD users may now conduct searches and run queries across all school types.

The second issue of our new-look NDAD newsletter is now available.

This quarterly publication highlights the latest dataset releases and developments in the Service. This issue we're focussing on data - search and rescue - and a look at recent releases.

This issue we're taking a special look at NDAD data relating to the environment and rural communities. Regular users are also being encouraged to submit their feedback about the service.

As part of the continuing network improvements within the ULCC data centre, a network maintenance period of approximately one hour shall be required on Tuesday 17th June 2008. This will allow the first connection of a resilient pair of networking links into the LMN (London Metropolitan Network) to be enabled.

A second network maintenance period will then be taken on Tuesday 1st July to connect the second link of the pair which will allow full resiliency of the network connectivity and improved overall network traffic management.

In both cases there will be a period of approximately one hour during which a network outage can be expected. Whilst we will endeavour to keep the actual outages to a minimum, some network instability should be expected during these periods.

This work will affect all external access to ULCC-hosted services, including NDAD.
